2020-21 SLEQ-TPG KEY FINDINGS

HKU conducts institutional surveys on students’ learning experiences for taught postgraduates (SLEQ-TPG) on an annual basis. The survey findings inform evidence-informed support for teaching and learning quality assurance and enhancement. All taught postgraduate students were invited to participate in the SLEQ-TPG in their final year of studies. A total of 3736 participants responded to the SLEQ-TPG this year.

Highlights of Findings

  • Overall performance on Achievement of Educational Aims, Teaching and Learning Environment, and Overall Satisfaction reached a higher record in the 2020-21 SLEQ-TPG after years of steady progression (Figure 1).
  • The highest rating emerged on Knowledge and Skills gained from TPG programmes, closely followed by Relevance to Practice and Active Learning.
  • From qualitative comments, many students frequently mentioned keywords such as “global perspectives”, “sharing”, and “professional” as the best aspects of their learning programmes (Figure 2).
Detailed results at the institutional, Faculty and curriculum levels are available at the online Institutional Survey Reports System (ISRS). Faculties could generate survey reports at various levels and make comparisons across years. All academic and administrative staff with access rights can directly access the system after logging onto their HKU Portal accounts (HKU Portal > Self Service > Teaching and Learning > Institutional Survey Reports > View Reports). Detailed instructions on using the System are available in the User Manual, downloadable here.
Faculties are welcome to contact Dr. Maggie Zhao at myzhao @ hku.hk for support in interpreting and utilising survey data, and Ms. Yvonne Chan at chanyyw @ hku.hk for technical support in using ISRS.
