The workshop Open Doors to Happiness: Navigating University Life Using Insights from Positive Psychology was successfully held in the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year, by the Teaching and Learning Evaluation and Measurement Unit (T&LEMU) in collaboration with the Common Core office at HKU. T&LEMU Director Dr. Maggie Zhao offered students scientific insights and practical strategies for nourishing students to flourish academically and non-academically.

Three student ambassadors coming from the Faculty of Arts, Science, and Medicine shared their own experience about how they have navigated commonly encountered university pressure, such as interpersonal relationship, GPA anxiety, and social pressure. They have applied Positive Psychology concepts learned from T&LEMU’s WeThrive programme to their campus life, for example avoiding thinking traps, embracing self-compassion, building resilience, strengthening positive relationships etc.

The workshop has gained positive feedback for quality, usefulness, and highly relevance for university students.
