T&LEMU Director Dr. Maggie Zhao attended the 13th Cross-Strait Conference on Educational and Psychological Testing Conference and Chinese Association of Psychological Testing Annual Conference (CSEPT) in Taiwan in mid-October, 2018. She delivered a presentation entitled “a psychometric examination of university students’ intercultural competence” reporting an ongoing study about understanding and assessing students’ intercultural competence, which is identified as one of the essential learning outcomes in the University’s four-year undergraduate curriculum. The study seeks to facilitate the University’s efforts of closely capturing and monitoring students’ progress and achievement towards their intercultural competence development.

The presentation was well received by the audiences coming from Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and United States. They showed great interests in our work and intentions for potential collaborations of developing and assessing students’ intercultural competence as one of the important 21th century skills.
