On August 2016, T&LEMU delivered an oral presentation on Student’s Voices on University Residential Experience at The University of Hong Kong in an International Conference, Beyond the Formal Curriculum in Universities, at The University of Hong Kong. The aim of the conference was to enhance student’s intellectual, social, and psychological development outside of classroom, such as in residential hall.

As institutional survey was found to be a useful tool for informing and enhancing the teaching and learning practices, the background of the Student Learning Experience Questionnaire (SLEQ) was introduced. Among many parameters measured, university residential experience made up a sizable portion in the SLEQ. Students were asked to reflect on their overall residential experience and how this experience was beneficial to their academic study and has enhanced their intercultural understanding. There were also a great number of open-ended comments received from freshmen to senior year students annually concerning various aspects of their residential experience.
